Thanksgiving Decisions

Holidays

One of the consequences of blogging on Thursday is that I blog on Thanksgiving Day. I’ve always suspected that not many people read the blog on Thanksgiving. Too many other things to do on that day: travel, cooking, last minute preparations.
This year may be different. Being with family and friends is risky. Guidance suggests that we be careful. Compromises are considered, even as we acknowledge the downside.  Traditions may have to take a back seat.....
With only two weeks till the holiday, it’s time to make a final decision.
Have you decided?

Yes. Illinois, with family in small groups. 3 separate dinners, managed risk.

Being careful is one thing - not seeing family is quite another. Life is short and no one knows for sure how long anyone will live. This may be the last chance to see someone. Do not let a Governor who sent infected people to nursing homes, killing thousands, and the same guy who allowed subways to be over crowded back in March and April and is allowing it today, to tell you how to celebrate holidays. Use your own heads. Be careful but do not give up on life.

Easy decision since my kids are in GA and CA and I am not inclined to travel and put others at risk. We will FaceTime and plan for next year.

Our kids from out of town (Virginia and Minneapolis) are having swabs done when they get in, and then we are enjoying a few different smaller get togethers. It is a balance between being careful and not shutting down life.... Lots and lots to be thankful for!

Despite our family’s invitation to an intimate rooftop Thanksgiving celebration - with heat lamps - we demurred choosing life over positivity or even worrying about it for the following 14 days. Next year!!! Meantime, grateful for our many blessings.
