Today Is The Day

I know that Corey blogged about this topic on Sunday – but I just cannot think of anything else to blog about today that makes any sense and would not seem completely superfluous. I suppose you can consider this a theme.

In this country, we have the power and privilege to vote. We get to show that our voice matters. I have been so heartened by all the talk of voting in recent weeks, the strategizing about when to vote and by what method. The electorate is as engaged as we have ever seen it. So, do it. If you haven’t already, just done it. If you have already, I personally thank you and so does every other American.

I have always felt strongly about using the power of voting. I remember very affirmatively teaching that value to my children. As soon as they could understand, we took them to the voting booth with us. Remember going behind the curtain and literally pulling the lever in a voting booth? I loved that feeling and so did both of my kids.

Have you voted?

Will be going to vote before lunch. I remember the lever and having trouble pulling it my first year voting. It turned me off from wanting to vote after that, so glad they changed the method.

I went at 6 and was 4th in line. Jo went before 9 and walked right in...

I went last Thursday when it was raining expecting no lines. There was a line but it moved quickly and we were done in 20 minutes. I have never missed an election since i was old enough to vote. Sooo important.

I loved those old voting booths - pulling the lever was a powerful feeling. I always wonder what the country would be like if the majority of people participated at all levels of government. That would force candidates to think about representing the majority and not only a dependable base. Let's hope that's a message that gets sent today and that the people who turned out this time continue to do so.

I remember taking my children into the voting booth and having them help pull the lever. Neither they, nor I, have ever missed a vote, not from the time they were little and accompanied me
