I know someone who went out with Ruth Bader in high school in Brooklyn.

He described her as smart, pretty, vivacious and a cheerleader.

No matter how hard I pressed or the questions I asked he said no more.

Being me, I was intrigued by his description of her being a cheerleader.  It was spice that just didn’t fit her frilled collar image.

So I dug deep and came up with the pictured blurb from Ruth Bader's high school yearbook.  My friend’s memory was imperfect as she was a “Twirler” not a cheerleader.

Picture teenaged Ruth Bader cavorting on a Brooklyn playing field vivaciously twirling a baton!

Clearly she was a woman of immense scope, talent and impact.

Only in America could a diminutive teenaged twirler from Brooklyn lead a life justifying being the first woman (and Jewish person too) in history to lie in state in the Capital Rotunda!

Rest In Peace Notorius RBG!

Interestingly today we can apply that title to a Baseball pitcher or a fan of a jam band like the Dead or Phish. No doubt young Ms. Bader was athletic and certainly that dexterity carried over to her legal acumen.

You just never know what you may become. I love all that she was involved with from her HS year book. Today, you would rarely see anything close to that kind of extra curricula activity.Love this.

She was s true renaissance woman. At five feet tall and a hundred lbs soaking wet - She was a giant. RIP RBG. May your memory be a blessing. You will be sorely missed.

A true example of "Sometimes Less is More". In size RBG was not merely a Titan however her contributions as a Chief Justice are Giant-Steeps which will echo throughout the World for Eternity. A True Agent of Change & Equality for All Mankind not only Women.

Honored that such a nice, smart Jewish girl from Long Island is being feted this way. She may have been diminutive in stature and yet her footprint will remain large. A champion for all women, a pioneer being just the second female SCOTUS and amazingly best friends with someone who interpreted the Constitution with a vastly different perspective. She and Antonin proved that even folks not of like mind, could find common ground and displayed for all Americans that it is possible for us to all get along, remain civil and use our intellect to find solace that we may not always be on the winning side.

I agree with all of the above. She also so valiantly struggled to hold on to her seat through all her illnesses. It's tragic that she lost her battle so close to the victory. I mourn her passing. A great woman indeed.
