Recurring Nightmares

Categories

One of my many problems is that I always remember my dreams.

Remember The Paper Chase movie wherein Professor
Kingsfield (pictured) terrorized first year law students?

Well, my nightmare is my own terrorized Paper Chase embellishment:  I’m a first year law student and I’m always unprepared and Professor Kingsfield is always calling on me. Then before I can be at a terrorized loss for words or make a fool of myself I wake up shaking in a cold sweat.

Sound familiar?  What’s your recurring nightmare?

P.S. Living in this Pandemic does not qualify and, as always, no politics!

I actually don’t have one. But I’m so happy to be the first to contribute today. And I wish everyone a happy and healthy and sweet NewYear

Sometimes your blogs surprise me.. Though I don't have a recurring nightmare, I cannot imagine you ever being unprepared for anything, except maybe the love and happiness of having a dog in your life. Good girl, Charcoal!

A very bad result changed my life, taught me a lesson and turned me into the person you knew.

Thankfully, I generally don’t remember nightmares. But one that used to bother me was not having my class schedule and missing class. Funny how the common theme has to do with school.
Fred Klein

School is different now as is the schedule

I don't usually remember my dreams and I have only had one recurring dream and like yours, it centers around school. Sometimes it's law school and other times it is not specific, and there are minor differences. In all, I am in some way not prepared for exams for some bizarre reason like mistaking which class I signed up for, or the date of the exam. It's terrifying! Even now, it's making me anxious.

I used to have one relating to not remembering to feed my fresh water tropical fish which years ago I had up to three tanks. I would come by weeks later to find many dead or very thin, withsome jumped out of the tank or stuck in the filter. I still sometimes have this dream and I haven't had fish tanks in over 5 years. Nor did I ever neglect them for more than a day. Very strange.

Yes. For sure. Ever have a great dream that you can’t quite remember, but then you wake up feeling happy?

I have a recurrent nightmare that a Marxist became Mayor of New York City. https://images.app.goo.gl/hqxSmzEiw3enam6s6

It's funny, right? In law school, I would dream of entire lectures. Of course I studied during every free minute I had. Fear of failure is a powerful tool for success.

I rarely remember my dreams. Although, now that I wrote that, I'm sure to have a wild one tonight!!!

I dreamed that I swallowed a five pound marshmallow and when I woke up my pillow was gone

I always seem to dream about my old italian, handsome hunk of a boyfriend. Most of the time I wake up feeling chased. Sometimes I’m left with a feeling of relief it’s over and sometimes I feel like I’m still running away. Eeekkk!!

My favorite dream is meeting the foremost detective in underwater crime. Otherwise, once I awake from a nightmare where I’m about to be murdered, I send love, light and forgiveness to the disenfranchised part of myself and tell my psyche to never have that dream again. So far it works. Also...poorly metabolized sugars and alcohol usu. play a role.

I can recommend a good shrink.

Luckily for me I don't have recurring nightmares, but they are less frequent and intense in the last couple of years.

Wow - Fred hits home once again.
My recurring nightmare is being late for my lecture at a national conference of attorneys
