ONe-Way Aisles

Our local supermarket follows the guidelines for masks and social distancing. In addition to monitoring the number of people inside, masks, and providing disinfecting wipes when you enter, the supermarket has imposed “one-way” aisles. A good idea from my perspective.
It is annoying to me that some people don’t respect the designated direction of the aisles. More than annoying —because of the health reasons for the one-ways and the risk when not observed.
I wonder whether ignoring the arrows on the floor and above is deliberate, perhaps some form of political statement, a state of oblivion, or a resistance to being told what to do.
Is our local supermarket a microcosm of what’s going on?

Still have not ventured into a market, all groceries delivered or curbside pick-up. Only Trader Joe's has no online or curbside. In March loaded my freezers with one large shopping there anticipating a shut down. 99% has been used and have weighed doing a drive by to see if crowded and people going in and out were wearing masks. Your blog has given me pause.

I have been in Fairway on the UWS and they have no rules. It is probably better since we have the mask vigilantes who are already quite busy.

I usually don't notice the arrows down Isles when I am shopping with a purpose for a particular item or two. I want to be in and out fast and not have to circle an entire store to get ot where I need to go. Arrows tend to slow you down and once you realize no one is following them, it becomes a meaningless sign. When waiting on line to pay, that is where I see biggest offenders. Rarely do people stand on the designated spot. That is when you most likely are to come in close contact with another person for an extended period of time and put you in harms way. Isles, no big deal if you really think about it.

All of the above...Oblivian, political, non-conformists. Your observance is a tribute to your grounded ness and a logical world, which sadly, this is not.

Some do not care; I generally will say something. I observe it when I shop and since the store is not what I call intuitive I often find myself having to go extra turns and aisles to get an items missed. No different than those who shun masks when they ought not to. I are little for those who act like they are above the rules....
