A Spoonful of Sugar

One of my favorite broadway musicals is Mary Poppins. An enchanting story about a nanny to an English family, who creates fun through structure and imagination. Practically perfect in every way. As I go through the painstaking efforts of moving into our new home, I’m reminded to find the fun in all of this chaos, “In the most delightful way”. “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun, soon you find that snap, the job is a game.” Maybe I’m just born a positive Mary Poppins type, or maybe I’m completely entertained through routine experiences. If I’m not laughing, I might be crying, so best to find humor in the mundane. I’ve been surprised at how many times those Mary Poppins songs bubble up for me. Her character resonates with me, even today! What’s your favorite broadway play?

Lion King, which I got tickets for off of Fredslist, years ago, 4th row center. Amazing to be up close for that production.

My favorite is usually the most recent. Looking back over all the plays perhaps, Follies or Company. And I loved Contact. Hamilton, of course. And Beautiful! And then ... how can I pick? Speaking of Mary Poppins, I still remember reading the book when I was a kid and I loved the original movie and the new one was Phenom! Glad you connected to your inner Poppins!

Great blog topic. My first musical, South Pacific!! My parents took me when I was young and, for me, it was a magical night.

Waiting until I see a musical I could've seen on the cheap but my wife passed at the time. Regrets it now. Ask her.
