Stay at Home Chores

Categories
Lifestyle

During our past reality, when I came home from a “Hard Days Work” Joanne would greet me with “How was your day?”, serve a great supper and ask for little help with the “House Wife” work.

Now that we are mostly marooned at home the equation has shifted drastically.

To say the least, since the onset of the pandemic, I have undergone significant change.  For example, I have cleaned my first bathrooms.

To say I was spoiled is an understatement.  To say that circumstances have forced me  to become domesticated is harsh reality.

I have taken to it like a wild Bronco!

We have all become much more aware and “involved” in our domestic surroundings.

Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine this new reality and it’s consequences...

I am impressed! I note that you have bathroom plural! Household chores have always been in my column of responsibilities because I find cleaning therapeutic and count it as exercise. The new reality is that cooking is my job and I can't say I am exactly in the wild bronco category, but let's say that it's getting old ... very, very old.

Oh I know what You mean. First of all the last 4 months its the most time I’ve spent with my husband in 30’years . I went from never turning on my stove / to cooking every night.
Can’t say I like it much - ha ha ha

I always cleared the table but now I rinse and put in dishwasher

Chores never go away, whether working from home or not. Deciding who does what has been one of societies great challenges. Glad to see you adapting.

Thank you Janet. In these times we can all use as much love as possible!

For the three months of the shut down, I cooked dinner every night. Now that I'm back in the office, that's becoming more difficult but the family still wants me to do it. :)

Bravo bronco! Just a few words from the front: This is mild. Be grateful, there could be no food, no heat or running water, no supply chains. No village of support that we have been spoiled by.

The times they are a Changin’ right Derf ? As a Navy boot I remember cleaning men’s urinals at 0600 with a toothbrush . On a full stomach no less . All I can do now is marvel at Diane’s work ethic . In slow motion recovery from a TBI 5 years ago I’m relegated to watering duties. It doesn’t take much these days for me to step into the box and feel like I’m accomplishing something extraordinary . Anything I can do to be productive as I watch Diane carry fifty pound bags of feed to the barn . Keeping the mojo tank filled takes constant monitoring . Thank God for what Diane brings to the equation around here .

I have been trying to teach Rosie to help with the chores but all she wants to do is play fetch and read Neil Hollander's compliments about her on Facebook!
