A Guest Blog By Norman Spizz

The other day while I was speaking to Nancy I told her about my weekly cousins cocktail zoom meetings. She asked me to take her blog day and write about it. So here it is.

During the first week of lockdown, I decided to have zoom cocktails with my sister who lives in Ithaca, my brother in Colorado and two of my first cousins who live locally and with whom we are very close. We decided that it might be fun to do it again a week later and invite some of our other cousins to join.

Well, we are doing this every Wednesday at 5:30 and it has grown tremendously. We have been joined by cousins from England who we never knew existed. Also some cousins in Israel, California, Oregon and other places. We have been joined by children and grandchildren. We have been told stories about incidents such as divorces, marriages, scandals etc. that some of us were aware of and others not.

I think that if there is any good that has come out of this covid situation, this is certainly high up on the list. I know that it will continue long after the virus is gone and we are back to normal. As a matter of fact I intend to start another one with my mother’s side of the family. I obviously won’t choose Friday, as that is the day I have zoom cocktails with my Gotham family.

Great story! I didn't know you had a sister.

I have an annual college roommate reunion every October. We started zooming when the lockdown occurred in March on Friday afternoons and we've been doing it ever since. It's become a highlight of my week.

This is great and a way to connect to family you rarely see or even talk to. Great topic Norm.
