An era ends

Tomorrow starts not just a new month. It’s also an end. A termination. A retirement of sorts. Maybe a beginning but I leave that for another time. I enjoyed it or endured it or perhaps tolerated it for more than a decade.

It accompanied me to many an event.

It carried a number of important possessions: a “club,” a football, a basketball. a pair of cleats. I started to remove contents on Friday. Business cards. Water bottles. Tire gauge. Phone charger. Lightning cable. A Gotham folding picnic table. A portable lawn chair (for outdoor shows). Reusable shopping bags. Quarters for parking meters. A small stockpile of some Gotham pins.

It even sports a sticker with a message important to this correspondent (“INDUCT POCO into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame”).

It carries mucho memories.

It certainly served this commentator well.

It inspired my road songs playlist.

I never created a list dedicated to it but songs by the Burritos (Wheels) and Poco (Drivin’ Wheel) come to mind.

Tomorrow we say goodbye. And thank you.

(And at a particular moment in time I'll hear two great bands play --

Interesting thought.
Might my secret space not even be there?

The car was a second home for most of my life and so moving into a new one was always bittersweet. The new smell was nice - getting everything in the right place took a while - especially the seat position. But it didn't take long before it was home. Thanks for sharing and enjoy!

It was a great car. I know as I have a similar model but with the last of the 6 cylinders. What are you getting instead?

I thought it would last forever. My mechanics said as much. A number of consideration came into play and might get revealed somewhat in a subsequent blog.
