Kindness

While walking Charcoal the other day I came upon the pictured sign.

Kind

As soon as I spied it my blogger juices began to flow and I quickly captured the pictured image.

What a stark, yet elegant statement!

Kindness is defined as follows:

Kindness

In these unprecedented difficult days we should all aspire to be kind or more kind as the case may be.  As we can see, it is a shared strength.

I think it meshes well with our “It’s better to give than receive...” mantra!

“Be Kind to Animals” is a familiar refrain. Being kind to strangers exhibits a penchant for empathy. Being kind to children shows one true colors. Being kind to all humans shows one’s compassion. Being kind to one’s self is the best “kind” of all because if we can’t love ourselves how can we be kind to others?

Kindness indeed goes a long way.

And that’s why Selfish is not a negative quality!

Being kind may be the quality I admire most in people. When someone is kind, I always go out of my way to help and protect them. While it is normally my first gear, it is difficult for me to altruistically maintain it when you feel unappreciated.

Exactly- simple, succinct, necessary and actually easy. Add compassion and you have a righteous combination.

Two Simple Words & an Emoji. A Perfect Statement for a "New Normal State of Mind". Great Idea for a Tee Shirt Statement. Fred I'm Stealing Your Picture & Posting on FB. Thanks for Sharing.

Yes. Kindness goes far, multiplying each time rather than being depleted a bit with each action.

Beautiful. To me kindness is the ability to see things from another person’s point of view, it allows for empathy. When I’m upset, I try to flip it and look at it from the other side and be compassionate. (Doesn’t always work right away if I’m really upset or if something makes no sense to me). To Steve’s point about “true colors” being kind when no one is watching (strangers, in private..) is the true measure. Thanks for the reminder!

The best part of being kind, it does not cost you anything. But the return in feeling is priceless.

A smile, a compliment, an e-card, a word of encouragement...these and more are the gifts of kindness we can share on any day.

It's such a simple concept and something I have gotten used to since hanging around our Gotham Tribe.

Great post Fred! One of my favorite movies is Disney's live action Cinderella; with Cate Blanchett & Lilly James it's a beautiful film (gorgeous costumes, sets & scenery) with its main message being kindness. I try to live by my favorite movie line of all time, embodied by this Cinderella, "Have courage & be Kind"! (Please email me if you watch the film; would love to hear your take on it ;)

Erin, you’re nothing if not kind!

Pay it Forward, the movie, should be required viewing for all.

Being kind is an art. One has to overlook an awful lot every day to be consistently kind . No shortage of assholes out there . Makes it difficult to be consistently kind . I’m not a naturally kind person . I find it takes excess energy to maintain kindness . It’s easier for me to be cynical and sarcastic . It flows better . Being kind takes it out of me . Oh yeah . And have a nice day asshole flows much easier . Makes me feel so much better . Although I will admit that confrontation innately feels better for some reason . Orgasmic in a sense . Being kind uses up a lot of something . Not sure what . Mojo ? Maybe . I can be kind . To puppies. Most living things . Birds, squirrels, kittens . People ? Not so much . People have an agenda . In most cases not a match with mine . I am getting better though . A lot better . Maybe because I’m getting older . Maybe because I follow the Golden Rule .

Kindly suppress your profanity. Otherwise a typically thoughtful comment. Thanks

It amazes me how unkind people can still be on social media. Even with all of this. One person wrote a horrible item on FB about a local restaurant for a small infraction-worker had walked out of the restaurant and upon walking back in, forgot to put her mask back on. I countered with a glowing review of their food and service. That has been my motto, counter unkindness with kindness.
