A void

I do not recall feeling like this last fall. Perhaps because I had most of the summer 2018 to ease into things. All I know is some sort of void exists. My team plays no longer. The only recent event involved a firing of the manager. On the other hand Friday's blogger’s team still plays. I find I really miss watching my team and attending the games.

While I plan to be there Opening Day 2020 and already took 145 RSVPs between Gotham City Networking and my FDR Lodge 613 Knights of Pythias blocks for next season’s Subway Series at Citifield, the only short term things I can look forward to while Fred’s team plays and hopefully moves on involves the selection of a new manager (Who do you think should pilot the Mets in 2020?) and the National League Cy Young crown and Rookie of the Year Award. A crime if the writers fail to select Jacob deGrom as the NL’s best pitcher and Pete Alonso who broke Aaron Judge’s rookie home run record and led the majors in homers. Still neither event involves playing this October.

So, I joined friends, a mix of Yankee and Mets fans to watch the Yankees knock off the Twins for the 2nd straight ALDS game yesterday eve. In true Pythian manner when the husbands and wives/ significants others gather (even though not all present are Pythians but those not are merely not yet so), the women gathered at the dining room table while the men watched ball. I enjoyed the company. I enjoyed watching a New York team dominate. I still miss my Mets.  Anyone with similar feelings?

They ought to hire Joe Giradi
Kelly Welles

I can understand how you feel but sports is not my world. Love that you care and that you share your intersecting worlds so effortlessly. I hope your team
rediscovers its former spirit.

I love your dedication and enthusiasm. I am totally embarrassed that I hadn't a clue.

Here’s one Yankee fan that says “Bravo!” to Pete Alonso on a magnificent performance. How can you not root for a guy like him ?

Let’s go Knicks! (47 years and counting)
Daniel Schwartz

I feel the same void but do enjoy my NY Rangers youthful hockey team as well as the rebuilding Giants football.
Corey Bearak

I am rooting for the Yankees. The Rangers were also exciting last night
Rona Gura

I feel like we jumped so quickly out of summer into fall. I'm still catching up.
