Have you ever done something nice for someone you didn't know? Like holding the door open. Allowing someone to get in front of you at Starbucks (that may be the hard for some of you:) Or even letting someone in your lane ahead of you while you're driving (that's hard for me!)

 

Small acts of kindness can go a long way. It also can signal what type of person you are being kind to. Like when you hold the door open and the person walking through it doesn't acknowledge what you've done. Remember, it's their issue not yours. Maybe they're not loved enough, or too prvilieged to understand small acts of kindness or...

 

No worries though, it won't keep me from continuing to be nice.

I usually receive thanks when I step aside and allow a lady to exit the elevator.

Thank you! A little kindness goes a long way. Even when the person receiving the kind act doesn't show appreciation, I believe they feel it (on some level) and hope it inspires them to show someone a kindness when they have a chance.

I admit it ... not receiving acknowledgement for an act of kindness has irked me, but I realize it's that person's issue, not mine. One thanks I alwys try to do is get my driver's window open and wave thanks to a driver who has let me into a lane of crowded traffic. I don't know if they notice, but it makes me feel good.

Great comment! I pray to find ways to be kind to people throughout the day. Whether it's simple or more complex in how you serve and show kindness I can assure you it never goes unnoticed. Especially with our Heavenly Father. It gives me a great feeling to be kind. I stopped being upset when people don't acknowledge by a simple "Thank you".

Always let folks who are driving and need to go into my lane get in front of me...many times they seemed surprised. Victoria is so right...random acts of kindness make every day better..

I enjoy seeing my 12 year old son hold doors open or go above and beyond when someone needs help (shoveling neighbors snow or picking things up that are dropped). It is all good.
