West Coast (Late) Games

I am a life long Baseball fan.  Did you know fan is short for fanatic?

Well fanatic is what I am about this year’s Yankee team (and Aaron Judge, but that’s for another blog)!  They have suffered unprecedented injuries to countless key players and yet the “Next Man Up” has carried them to First Place in the American League and one of the best records in Baseball.  It is unprecedented and they have inspired me to dub them the No Name Monsters!

Anyway, last weekend they played night games on the West Coast which started (after my bedtime) at 10:07.

Try as I may, the best I could do was watch the first inning and for the  first game, once I turned in I slept through the night and woke up to a loss.  Thereafter, I found myself getting up in the night for intervals of score checking. Well, they lost the first 3 in Oakland and I was not optimistic about last Friday night’s game against the National League First Place LA Dodgers who possessed the best record in Baseball.

I got up 4 times in the wee hours of Saturday: 1) Yanks were winning 2-1 and Judge had homered, 2) Yanks winning 8-2, 3) Yanks winning 9-2 and 4) final score 10-2.

I must say it was (California) dreamy!

All in all, a good 5-4 West Coast trip. We will wrap up the division in the next week or two and then hope for the best in the playoffs.

What an enjoyable blog and comments! When I wake up during the night I check facebook, but that's a whole other fanaticism.
Go Yankees!

P-Nap , Derf and I put the fanatic in FAN . We “watch” most Yankee games simultaneously which is quite the trick . Considering the dynamics . We rant during , before and after every Yankee game . Scold , correct and complain. For me it’s been magical. The west coast trips completely blow me off my regimen . The evil stare from the boss expressing dinner is on the table usually comes just about at the first pitch . “ Pausing “ I say to my Trinity brothers . Evil stare . They know the code . Phone turned off under penalty of God knows what . I usually don’t make it back on the thread and Derf usually turns off the lights by then anyway . P-Nap aka Paul is usually on his third Negroni by then . Made with artisan gin supplied by my west coast distillery . “Sexy” he calls it . Me ? My bed time is shortly after first pitch . Right after dinner . Under the covers with my iPad . Headsets . So when #99 crushes one I jump and whoop . And wake up the boss . West coast road trips ? Screw with my Circadian Rythm . When I get up to pee The Boys from Trinity are waking up for the day . And so it goes in the Afterlife .

The above is an accurate representation of Trinity!

did better than my team did in the correct time zone and helped my team's ace (though he did not help himself) in scoring mucho runs v a Cy Young contender.

Yup that's a fanatic and it's awesome...88 wins last time I looked. WOW. Well, I am a Mets fan you know where that leaves me. I do love baseball and football. Then Hockey.
