The Life of An Early Riser

Categories

For most of my adult life, I loved to sleep late on the weekends. Even when my children were young, when they would wake up earlier than me on weekends, I would pull them into my bed and let them watch television while I dozed.

Several months ago, all that changed. A friend wanted to attend Weight Watchers with me but was only available very early on Saturday mornings. So, in order to encourage her to go, I agreed to change my weekly Weight Watcher meeting to a very early Saturday morning meeting. Other friends who knew me were flabbergasted to learn that I would agree to be out of the house so early on a Saturday.

I found that getting out of bed early on Saturday morning was not as difficult as I had anticipated it to be. I then got into a habit of, after attending the early Saturday meeting, doing my weekly errands. I quickly realized how much I could accomplish before 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday.

I now appreciate the life of an early riser. Are you an early riser or late riser?

Early riser. Early morning is beautiful and fruitful!

I've always been an early riser. It's probably part habit and part FOMO of what the new day has to offer. Carpe Diem!

I am an early riser but my wife is not. It makes for getting things done difficult at times.

Your timing is so interesting. I have always been a very late worker---meaning that I worked late into the wee hours of the morning and then when the alarm went off for an 8am meeting I groaned. Lately I find myself up waking earlier than normal and instead of turning over and going back to sleep I have been getting up. Amazingly I appear to get more done in the early hours of the morning.

I love getting a lot done in the morning, but I like to start my day easy and relaxed with coffee and the news. And annoying Paul by being chatty; he is a quiet, focused early riser. Lol.

I love the quiet and peacefulness of the early morning especially now when I can go for a walk at 5:30 am and it's light out! I cherish these summer days. I get so much done even before going to the office.

Hats off to Rona for rising early for a friend in need. The world is run by early risers. However, I enjoy late night talk shows, Nova, NatGeo, Animal Planet The History Channel and visiting other worlds at nite. Mornings are for meditation and exercise. Work is somewhere in between. Maybe someday.

I get up anywhere from 5 - 5:30AM everyday with no alarm cock...

Great blog. I used to love to sleep in but as I get older that just gets harder. I don't like sleeping past 8:30 on a weekend. It takes away too much time from my day.

I love getting up early. Although, it hasn't always been that way.
