What Would You Do If You Knew?

Categories
Lifestyle

If you knew today was your last day on earth what would you do?

Who would you be with?

Who would you reach out to talk to?

What would you say that you haven’t said?

What credit or praise would give that you haven’t given.

What wrongs would you try to right?

What debts would you pay?

What gifts would you give?

Who would you tell of your love?

What self indulgences would you allow?

What would you do that you haven’t done?

Wow....now that's a doozy. I'm off to Europe, to eat fresh pasta, call Harvey Spector and profess my love/crush. I'd go back to school and keep learning. I'd call my grade school friends and connect. I don't have any monetary debts, but I'm, grateful for the favors bestowed. I'd have to repay those favors. I'd continue to be as honest as I'm capable of being without causing harm. Good reflective questions.

First, I’d have to ponder all of my options. I’m afraid, by then, I’d have run out of time.

After writing this I reached out to reconnect with a school friend who changed the course of my life!

I would certainly get up early and plan on staying up late. And aside from eating a DQ turtlette Blizzard, it might not be a whole lot different. This is something to think about and it makes me grateful that I don't know my expiration date.

So many things came to mind, I wasn't sure where to start listing them. Many initial ideas gave way because they would involve spending hours on a plane, which I'm not sure I'd want to do with only one day left. The one thing I do know, I'd spend my final hours with Jerry (my husband/best friend/soul mate for those of you who don't know him); because I always want more time with him.

Aside from making certain I’m with my wonderful Wife, nothing different. All we ever have is this present moment.

One day is so little time, so all I would want to do is to spend time with my wife, children and grandchildren

Great mind game. Not sure one can answer honestly unless actually put into that position.

Great exercise! So I important to think about. I would spend it with Paul, my soulmate and truly the love of my life, being together, doing whatever we do. Tell my children I love them and watch them enjoying their lives, loves and accomplishments. Savor each second like a precious bite on my tongue. We are blessed to already do so much of what we want to do, the challenge is appreciating in the moments. I guess now I will think about doing today, what I might do if I knew. Which is to be more mindful. Thank you Fred. Great post.

You can’t step outside the box on this one Derf . The view from within is quite different than the speculation from outside. The circumstance that prevails. So..... Without being self righteous I’ve stared down the final curtain a few times . I remember once thinking as the right wing on my jet was engulfed in flames . “ Good God just get me back to the airport so I don’t miss happy hour at the club! “ I’m lying on a gurney semi- consciousi in an ER in Denver and hear the doctor say “ we’re losing him ! “ I only wanted to be at peace when I met the big guy . What ? No steak and egg breakfast before I enter the Twilight Zone ? “ Whats next ? I thought? One more kiss with Diane? Nope . No time . Too gut wrenching any way . Folks ... Ya gotta have your shit together and best not wait . The Grim Reaper is always around the corner . I remember one time I was landing on a pitching deck at night in a squall ... ..... I thought ..... Is the chow hall still open ? A last meal ? You gotta be kidding me. Yeah I’ll have the big T- Bone rare please. Who’s on the mound for the Yanks tonight anyway ?

I truly loved reading these answers---great insights. For me, there is much to consider but most important is to ensure my children know how much I love them, am proud of them, and to try to ensure that they recognize what amazing women they are.

Just another day and I do not expect to know.
Got to be a loving husband, dad, and son, etc. and good friend and person (I hope I meet the preceding!) to whenever.
