The Final Time

Yesterday my son hit the send button for the last time. That is, he applied to the last college on his list. We had a little party.

Now we are in the waiting game as the schools make their decisions over the next few weeks and months. A nerve-wracking time but actually kind of freeing.

At this moment, as a high school senior he has done everything that he could possibly do – hard work, extracurriculars, recommendations, great essays, college visits, and on and on. There is not much else to do at this point, except enjoy the last part of senior year being careful to avoid a nasty case of senioritis.

Stay tuned. There is college in our future.

Ah, but Nancy, there is still yet plenty to do. It's called follow-up and follow-through to winning acceptances and maximizing scholarships. You can't just hit the submit button and then sit and wait! Also, he could be creating a blog site, updating his Profile Sheet/ Resume, and communicate it all regularly with the Admissions Office.

I am so glad that is all behind me other than the loan payments! Thank you again, Hans, for being a great resource for my brother and niece with this whole college application and financial aid process.

So exciting! I hope he is accepted into all of them and can choose the one he wants most.

From my own kids' experience it is very nice to be done with the applications but now the waiting jitters set in. I like Hans' advice & will add that for my son we appealed monetary awards from accepted schools. In the end several increased their offers as they competed for him to chose them. Lots of luck with that final step....for now enjoy the breather :)

I find fascinating the additional items Hans suggests not available my I approached this for yours truly and certainly for my own offspring. Good Luck Eric!
