It's A Matter of Trust

This blog is not so much about the story that I’m relaying. This blog is about trust.

The same woman, Rachel, has been cutting and coloring my hair for the past ten years. On Saturday morning, I had an 9:00 a.m. appointment for a cut and color. The salon called me early in the morning to tell me that Rachel was ill and would not be coming in. The salon’s offer was either I could reschedule my appointment with Rachel  or they had someone else available on saturday morning to cut and color my hair. The choice was mine.

I hesitated before I made a decision. I was concerned about trusting my hair, and therefore my appearance, to someone else. Knowing that it would be difficult to get to the salon again in the next couple of weeks-and seeing the amount of gray that was present in my hair-I decided to be trusting and let someone else do my hair.

I was very proud of my trusting self as I walked into the salon and met Amanda, who would be coloring my hair. As I sat in the chair, Amanda started looking at my hair and said, “Would you like to hear my suggestions as to your hair color or should I just follow the card Rachel keeps for you?” In a heartbeat I responded, “Follow Rachel’s card.”

So, I guess I can be trusting, but only up to a certain point. How about you?

I'm trusting myself that "Gray is the Way!' So much easier and I adore how it looks.
Impressed that you turned yourself over to someone new, if only for a visit.

Glad it turned out OK for you. When I chose to trust another hair stylist to "follow what's on the card" she didn't. I ended up being a brunette until the next time I saw my hair stylist to turn me back into a redhead. He was not happy! :)

I get what you are saying.
As long as the substitute person kept to the plan on the card, I had thought you were going to say that you liked the hairdresser better than your usual person and wanted to switch to the new one. That has happened to me and it is really uncomfortable.

Wow!!! That's exactly the reason why they have cards.

My daughter had that happen. I spoke to the owner of the salon. They were great about it. They would much rather keep your business than risk losing you.

Wow!!! I'm impressed with you! I'm not sure I wouldn't have chosen the grey!
