View from a Glove

It’s cold, really cold, and one of the absolute necessities are gloves.
But what’s it like from the viewpoint of a glove?

“I like being needed, especially when the weather gets really cold. I feel appreciated. But one of the great occupational hazards of being a glove is being lost. I hate being taken for granted, neglected and lost.
The worst is being left on the ground or in a parking lot. Very lonely and very little chance of every being found. However, it has happened.
If I’m going to be left behind, I prefer being left in a restaurant. I have company with the other gloves and our cousins: scarves, hats and mufflers. There are people around. And there’s a better chance of being repatriated with my matching glove.
When you’re a glove, it’s always better to be in pairs.”

Sweet.
I have found gloves to be thwarting, so I only wear when I absolutely have to. I’m sure there is some deep psychology there...

When we ran marathons there always came a time when we threw our gloves away as we warmed up and wanted to be as light as possible.

Let's start a fashion trend of wearing mismatched gloves. That way they can all have a home. Who's with me?

Gloves are one of things I can rarely be happy about. The thinner leather ones are fashionable and allow for some dexterity and ability to feel, but do little to keeping your hands warm. (Great for driving). Those nice insulated, thick ski style gloves are toasty warm but give almost no feel or ability to do much. I need a great pair of warm gloves that can allow me a sence of touch...

I knew someone who had five legs. He had custom made slacks which fit him just like a glove.

Very cute. Gloves are a necessity for me, and I inevitably drop one, however gratefully I usually find the missing one ---however I love Liz's idea.

I buy gloves on the street - never pay more than 10.00. My favorite (being a photographer)
are fingerless with a mitten top. I can use my fingers while shooting and then cover up when I'm done.

In keeping with my search for the unique and creative, this particular glove (actually hand warmer) is beautiful cashmere studded with Swarovski crystal...making it particularly important that it comes back to its' welcoming home...the restaurant I think has it is on a "small" holiday vacation....reopening Jan.17!! Much suspense and drama here until then. If "beautiful" does not return home I'm with Liz....I'll deliberately mismatch it with a sibling of another color!!

I have gloves I only use for shoveling. Coats with pockets large enough to avoid gloves going astray remain important to me when I look to make a purchase.
