One Country

Categories
Politics

So much is going on in his first 100 days and there is so much polarization in our country.  It truly is enough to make One's head spin.

No matter your political leaning or how you feel about the style and manner of POTUS, we are still one country.

We need to settle down, find common ground and perpetuate our unique democracy, i.e.: "indivisable, with liberty and justice for all"!

How this can or will happen I can not really say, but in my lifetime we have always found a way, no matter how dire or turbulent the situation.

Hard to believe Ivanka and Jared might be so pivotal.  Nepotism need not always be a negative.

I agree - we do need to settle down - but so does our president - sorry.... he is a child with ADD - bombing, golfing, dining, traveling, spending tax dollars on his pleasures, keeping on eye on his various businesses, tweeting nonsense - etc etc.etc. Yeh Mr. President - how about some governing.
Daniel Schwartz

Interesting and typical to see how once in office, the president (regardless of who) changes their focus or ideals that were campaign initiatives (Obamacare, Working with China, NATO's importance...). We are one nation and do need keep that in mind when bringing the political topics up here. I am still optimistic our government will march on with minimal issue.

There is so much great happening everyday. Having thoughtful, calm, non hostile conversations will change the world. The odds are always in our favor.
Dana Charlton

I would like it if you were right, Fred, but his supporters are blind to what he is doing, missiles on Syria and a bomb yesterday on Afghanistan, threats from North Korea - not to mention all the rest - there is neither time nor room for it. I agree also with Judy and with Cayce, but sometimes when I read the headlines I can't breathe. Insofar as his nepotism, they don't seem to be doing anything helpful except maybe getting Bannon out. They do need to hide the nuclear codes from him.

The Constitution, its prescriptions, protections and prohibtions, help bring us together, even when some (many) remaining so unknowing about the ties that bind.
And for those interested in some more, consider my talk at Gotham Executive "club' on Wed. eve.
Victoria Drogin

I love the idea of common ground very much, Fred. And I believe in it. There is always some to be found. The problem is that when we believe we are right, we make the other side wrong. This makes it hard to come together. I have been hopeful from day one. And yes! Respectful, open discourse is definitely the way to go. :) great post.
Gideon Schein

While I applaud your hope I remain skeptical about the effect of any nreasoned conversation now between the warring constituencies. I spent the First Seder night with what turned out to be s houseful of intelligent, articulate "Trumpers." any attempt I made to have a reasonable discussion failed and we returned to the only peaceful ground-SPORTS; and that with a room full of Yankees vs. Mets, Giants vs Jets and Knicks vs. Nets fans. Go figure!

The People are Divided. Most Politicians are pandering to their bases. The Media cuts its' viewers into segments. We need a Unique Leader and/or a movement that will galvanize all of us to see the possibility of working together as the only path to reaching important goals for the USA that everyone will recognize and respect.

Oh boy . With all due respect Fred . I love this blog. It's my go to Friday challenge . I lay in bed and check out the topic . I formulate my strategic response in the shower and beyond . Honestly I play with my response for most of the day ......Retired out here from the daily grind I find the Blog an inspiration . It's as if I'm talking directly to you and the Gothamites that participate . That being said Maggie's flag is appropriately and touchingly displayed . Your message is well taken . But as I look at some responses it seems to me that some on the blog can't seem to focus on your pure intent but still have to get in the last political word so to speak . So in restraint I'm not gonna talk about "Bunker Bombs " demolishing the caves and tunnels of ISIS or striking back at the butcher Assad. Shall we just stand by and watch ? That is not what Americans do . As you know our son is a Lieutenant in the Marine Corps and is awaiting orders. It would be nice to have his country polarized on HIS behalf . One for all and all for one ! But no . People still don't get it ! My hope is that we can all get on the same page and stop looking for reasons to bitch about it ! Thanks for your attempt Brother!

Chuck read it while I was at his gas station and he hugged me. Progress!

We need to lead from within ourselves. The problem is not external, it's internal.
