Sometimes there are things that are right before your eyes, but you never notice. Or you never realize what you're looking at...or exactly what it means. Also, you're never too old to learn something new.
I was talking to another Gothamite, the wonderful Sonia Saleh, about what Gotham means to us and how we view it. We came up with the concept of Gotham as Playground. Not to belittle the all the great work that is done within the Gotham Tribe, a playground to me is a place to try out new ideas, engage with like minded (and not-so-like-minded) people and learn from peers. A place where sometimes I fall down and sometimes I hit home runs.
  OK, but I’m still sleepy!
I recently blogged about a medical procedure I had to endure-nine needle biopsies into my neck while I was awake and laid perfectly still-because I did not initially listen to my doctor. Prior to undergoing the procedure I reached out to fellow blogger Cayce Crown-without telling her why-and questioned her about meditation. Knowing what I was about to endure, I thought meditation would help me through the process.
A need for secrecy absolutely barred this subject for blogging last week.
It's Saturday morning and I woke up with a smile and a warm feeling. No I was not in the shower, nor was it from the sun streaming in the windows, I was just walking down the stairs to write my blog.   I realized that my feeling was a result of having all my children in my house at the same time. It might seem funny to some, but being under one roof gives me a sense of calmness and comfort. I'm sure if you're a parent you can understand.   Some moments in life are worth remembering, especially those that help you smile. Enjoy your day ;)
My work cohort and/or Assistant is Dana Zarro  (née Crohn).  We have been together since the early 1970s.  See photo above of us back in the day.   We Lifers have lots in common. Not the least of which is that we are both Left handed and love dogs (although I came to that later than she).  You may be familiar with Dana as Gotham's new member application coordinator, loyal blog commenter and sometimes Fredslist user.
There is no doubt that the picture accompanying this blog is worth a thousand words. It is a picture of my mother holding her newest great grandson a few days ago. Four generations in a single picture. (Yes, although not immediately visible, I am in that chain from my mother to my grandson.) It is a beautiful picture.
