Big Sexy is the affectionate ironic nickname pinned on the Mets 43 year old 285 pound pitcher Bartolo Colon who has been the winning pitcher in 230 big league games in a MLB career which started in the last century (1997). That's a lot to say about an ever smiling Dominican man who has become the people's choice.  He can do no wrong! He just has this wonderful easy rider way about him as he cheerfully goes about his business.
We were on the ferry from Mukilteo to Whidbey Island, Washington, and Flo struck up a conversation with the man on the motorcycle next to our car. "Do you know that you're going to the longest island in the United States?" Considering that I come from Long Island, that Long Island is about 110 miles long and that Whidbey Island is about 58 miles long, I must have exhibited some disbelief. "Well, Long Island is not an island. The Supreme Court said so.

Good morning! A little late today. In the midst of an office move that is having some bumps, so yesterday I went to the movies. It has been a long time since I was so moved by a film. The film was Florence Foster Jenkins with Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant (perhaps the best acting he has ever done) and many other talented actors. It certainly wasn't perfect but I found it quite affecting, that it was based on a true story made it even more wonderful.
Years ago I wrote a blog about the first time I was “Ma’amed”. Apparently, I have been promoted – not necessarily in a good way.
Today I am feeling vindicated.  In the past, have written blogs about my experience being called, “Honey” or “B###h,” by male attorneys or, otherwise being sexually harassed. In the blogs, I wrote about my feelings of degradation and anger.
Many know my deep interest in music and sports.   Well, today we celebrate seven decades for an important figure in my life who influenced and introduced me to both.   The celebration comes a few weeks later than the actual event but most of the family will be there.
From Rio de Janeiro, an Olyimpic athlete shared a photo of this quite unusual bathroom sign banning throwing toilet paper into toilets -- and using commodes as fishing holes (lower left) among other uses.     Delle Donne, the Olympian who posted this said "Guess I won't be toilet fishing today."
On Sunday I watched American runner Galen Rupp win a Bronze medal in the Olympic 26.2 mile Marathon race with special empathetic interest.  Some may know that Gotham General Counsel Ben Geizhals was my marathon running partner.  We lived by the mantra of "Miles of trials and trials of miles" for a 10 year period in which we devoted ourselves to maniacal training and racing. For example, once a week prior to the New York City Marathon we would run the 19 miles from Roslyn into the city on Northern Boulevard and over the 59th Street Bridge.
