Follow Up Fun!

I like to say that when it comes to networking, “the fun is in the follow up.” That’s when we really get to know each other. It's where friendship happens.

I also believe that business is “about conversations not presentations. ”Conversations are about sharing - they are more impactful than the “this is what I do … buy my stuff!” commercials.

And so there I was at the golf outing chatting with Jay Zimner – a great networker (and friend) who follows up, pays attention and knows that relationships matter. We were catching up on family stuff - kids, spouses, etc And I started to tell him about not wanting to stay in my 5th floor walkup much longer and the challenges that come with finding the right space.  “Ever thought of moving to Riverdale” he asked, knowing enough about me to think it was a good option. “Where’s that?” I responded having no clue, but trusting Jay. He quickly helped me connect the dots.

Fast forward, the amazing mover – Jay’s connection – will come in less than two weeks to pack our stuff and deliver it to our new home in Riverdale. The realtors who live in Riverdale are now not only Jay’s friends by ours. They schlepped us around and “taught” us Riverdale. On moving day, they will come to get me, Gayle and JuniperBerry, the scaredy cat, and drive us to our new home. We absolutely love the area, the house is perfect, and we are excited to settle in.

Thank you to Gotham's leadership for offering myriad  opportunities to have meaningful conversations – not just presentations . And thank you to Jay for paying attention when we had our follow up conversations so he knew how to help and he did.

Such an important reminder that all business, actually all life's experiences are built on relationships
