A Day Off?

Categories
Lifestyle

I intended to take Friday off. My daughter was getting married on Saturday (which is a blog for another day) and so I decided to take the day to attend to last minute details, get my nails done, travel to the venue, etc.

But, with my emails being pushed to my iPhone and my clients having my cell phone number, I still worked. There were several emails to which I had to respond. I received text messages from clients to which I felt compelled to respond.

My experience on my “day off,” led me to reflect on my prior days off. Even while I am away I still respond to emails and text messages from clients.  I do not remember the last time I truly spent a day not looking at my cell phone for emails or text messages from my client.

Perhaps I need a “day off” from my phone? When was the last time you took a true day off, cell phone or other technology included?

Its one of the reasons I like to take a cruise at least once a year and not take the internet package. Sure, when we get to a land destination, I end up getting emails, but when at sea, nothing. It can be a bit nerve racking as the lack of interruptions is odd. But it is necessary.
