Vanilla?

Last week's "10/10 Egg Cream Club" blog was about (U-Bet) chocolate egg creams which I love. Thus, I was very surprised by the number of comments favoring vanilla egg creams. Truth be told, I had never heard of a vanilla egg cream.

Especially so, as Vanilla is described as "very plain and unexciting."

Once I started thinking about it, I recalled that when I was young I only scoffed chocolate ice cream, but over the years I have moved on to appreciating the subtle flavor of vanilla ice cream.  

Then I thought about my delicious daily Oui vanilla yogurt.  

All in all, at the next 10/10 Egg Cream Club meeting, I'm going to try a vanilla egg cream and I'm sure I'll like it!

What do you put in a vanilla egg cream that replaces the chocolate syrup?

I can appreciate vanilla and have had it an egg cream made with it. Using pure vanilla extract can lead to an adult beverage delight.

Good quality vanilla ice cream is the base used for delicious flavors. It's not easy to find good farmhouse high butterfat vanilla any more.

Most prefer the sweetened kind you can get in the supermarket, but its not real vanilla. I prefer the real stuff and don't mind it less sweet.

A vanilla egg cream is the equivilant of a pastrami sandwich on white bread with mayonaise.

Looks like chocolate to me is the favored flavor but I must admit a vanilla egg cream is pretty good! Fred? Let us know?

Chocolate -- plain and simple --a variant I've tried and enjoyed is certain flavored seltzers that I experimented with.
