Don't Need It

The booth was where it has been for years. The company sold journals and was at the trade show every year.
And, as in years past, they were offering free embossed journals as a promotion.
As we have in the past, we picked a journal and waited on line thinking about the clever words, or variation of a name, we would ask to be embossed on the cover.
But then the question came to us.
“Do we really need them?” We thought about the free sample journals we got last year and couldn’t remember where we put them - let alone having used them.
No ! We didn’t need them. Free or not, we didn’t need.
We put back our samples and left the line.
And later, when we passed the booth a second time, we were tempted again, picked up the sample and quickly put it back.
Simply, we didn’t need it.

As I get older, I realize there is much waste and do ask myself if it's a "free" item is it really needed? I somehow never refuse a shirt, sanitizer, or flashlight, no matter how many I seem to have...

Being in the Promotion Business, we always tell our customer the give away should be something that is useful and can be used over and over again. [ like a Sanitizer ]

I like to bring a drawstring bag to trade shows to collect tons of SWAG while remaining hands free.

I have WAY too much crap…
