Subway

I hadn’t been on a subway in over three years.
Last Sunday, we were on a walking tour in Manhattan and had to take a short subway ride at the end of the tour. Forewarned and equipped with our MetroCards, we ventured forth with the others on the tour.
The MetroCard worked.
Shortly after I went through the turnstile, another rider straddled over without paying. Then another who opened the emergency exit gate as others streamed in.
I had heard of fare-beaters on the subway. Witnessing it was another matter.
Troubling. Disheartening. Thought-provoking.

Seeing title, thought this would be about Mets at Yankees last night. Took D train there from office and 4 train home after. Great deal for the price.

Nothing new but I thought there was an effort in place to control it better.

It is disturbing and a major reason for the toll increases. Bad karma doesn't seem to bother toll evadors. The MTA is on the middle of installing anti-evade systems. Stay tuned!

I thought this was a subway series blog as well. Unfortunetly NYC has become a city of do as you please in my opinion. Sad and unfortunate, those who obide by the laws seem to end up paying for those that don't.

So even the word “Subway” is now controversial?….
We are indeed a divided society!
