The Club

A picture on the front page of Tuesday’s New York Times caught my eye. It was a room at the Friars Club. The familiar seal on the wall looked down at the empty tables and chairs.
The title of the article tells it all - “Haven of Cigars and Laughs Seeks a Savior”.
I remember the many Gotham meetings and events at the Club. My first Gotham meeting. The Galas. Bob Formica sitting at his special table by the fireplace in the Bar room. My mother sharing her story of survival, rebirth and forgiveness to a packed house in the main room.
As the Club remains shuttered awaiting its fate, let’s share our memories of the place we called Home.

People were so impressed. I took my brother once and we were nearly run over by 3 celebrities. (Would have been 4 but Fred Klein wasn't there that day)

Don't give up hope yet, there is talk of a Benefactor coming in to save the day.
