A Season to Believe

Next weekend, Saturday to be exact, after several days of team members, prospects, and some just hoping to gain a spot on my favorite baseball team gather in Port St. Lucie, actual games -- the Spring training variety -- commence. That prospect certainly excites this correspondent. How can you not after viewing that commercial during the Superbowl (I actually caught it earlier than that!)?

Though some players will divert to join various formations for the World Baseball Classic, I look forward to watching and listening to the Spring Training games as a prelude to the season starting.

I also want to learn whether any of the prospects (Alvarez, Baty, Vientos) who enjoyed their brief cups of coffee last year will join the team when training camp breaks.

Whether or not the win-loss record approaches last year's regular season's numbers, much expectation exists for this 2023 version.

Mets fans: do you share my excitement and anticipation?

Fans of other teams: how do you respond about your team?

As usual I put together two groups to visit Citi Field in June to enjoy a Subway Series game.  The Tuesday and Friday bloggers will be among those attending.  Last Sunday morning when my daughter and I met well-resourced owner of the Mets, I shared the June plans with him; hope it impressed.  Marisa and I committed to that event, which her non-profit co-sponsored, before "Uncle Stevie as many fondly call Mr. Cohen was announced as a speaker.

I enjoy sports vicariously through my friends. Watching others enjoy the seasons is my sport of choice.

Seems like NY will have a great baseball season.
Watching which young players make it and which oldies fade should be fascinating!

I am also hopeful for a good season for the Mets. I am looking forward to Spring Training and the start of the season.
