Congratulations to all of the honorees at the Gotham 2022 Holiday Party.
I was riveted by Vince Chirico’s words. Vince received the coveted Red Bandanna Award for his efforts through Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow.
Vince recounted how he would have been in his office at the World Trade Center on September 11th but for his wife’s insistence that he accompany their daughter on her first day of school. Six people in his office perished that day.
Our award honors those whose actions are in tradition of the Man in the Red Bandanna who saved so many on that day.
I cannot escape thinking that this year’s recipient was also saved on the day.

No matter how long I am in Gotham and how many times I hear from people, there is so much we don't know about each other. What a story! And what wonderful work Vincent is doing!

It is a very moving story and it rings true to so much in life. A good HS friend of mine was coming into NY who worked in one of the towers, but missed his LIRR train. He got to the city late for work, just after the first tower was hit. If not for a missed train, he would have been part of major loss where most from his office perished. So hearing this hits home to me very much.

Made me weep. I mourn them all, but especially those whose names we will never know. They were undocumented workers with families in other countries.
Very moved by his story and his emotions.
