Have You Been?

As a group, we’ve been blogging a lot lately about movies.  Rona has a movie studio in her basement.  During the pandemic, my family room became our Saturday night movie night space.

But here I am thinking about an actual movie theatre.  All through the pandemic, movies opened straight to the small screen and we learned the power of Roku.  Lately, I’ve been noticing that trend changing and films opening first on the big screen.

We have not been inside a movie theatre since early 2020.  Truth be told, I missed it early on.  We were always movie goers, enjoying that feeling of the big screen in front of you filled with action – while relaxing in comfy lounge chairs with some popcorn.

I am starting to think about the return to the theater.  Although still a little reluctant, I am back just about everywhere else so why not also to that comfy lounge chair?

Have you seen a movie on the big screen?

Top Gun and Elvis both were a moving experience...

I have not been to the movies in 9 years. Technology has made it way too easy for us to stay home and watch any movies that's in the theaters.

I usually go to the movie theater when I am with the grands and have been back once in the past few years. Although I like the comfortable seats that have replaced the old style, I am not a fan of the volume which is unsafe at any row. And there has been very little offered that I can't wait to see on line. So for me, going back to the movie theater isn't on the list. Actually, I don't have a list. It's pretty much back to doing the things I choose to do.

We have not been to a movie theater since Covid .... and am not sure when we will as there is such good material streaming, such as White Lotus and Yellowstone. Prior to Covid my wife and I had been doing "crash" movie time - very little though out the year. and going to movie theaters 5-6 times over the year-end holidays, lounging in the big, reclining movie theater seats, seeing all the the year's nominated movies.

Nope. And I used to head Paramount Pictures advertising. But now see
movie theaters as petrie dishes.

We saw Maverick in the theaters. Definitely awesome on the big screen. I have gotten used to the couch for convenience and ease, but there are some movies that definitely are better in a theater.

We’ve seen a few movies in theaters recently, during off hours when theater was almost empty. We also have a wonderful art cinema in Huntington which has been fairly empty when we were there. Sure, we’re taking a risk but I find I stay awake and actually watch the entire movie
And when the popcorn spills, no worries!

I am a movie addict!
Theaters make them all the better.
Matinees are less crowded!
