It Was A Good Movie

What, to you, makes a movie good or, even, great?

After Superstorm Sandy, my husband and I refurbished our downstairs den into a movie room. Ever since that time, once a month a group of friends come over, and we bring in dinner and enjoy a movie.

Saturday night’s move was “Don’t Worry Darling.” Being a science fiction fan, I was the only one who immediately proclaimed afterwards that they liked the movie. Some of the other comments were that it was a bit strange, they’re not sure they understood it, and one person outwardly said they didn’t like it.

But the next morning an unusual event occurred. A least it was unusual for us. We all began to ask questions and chat about the movie in our group text. I do not remember the last time we all spent so much time the next day discussing a movie. So I put the question out to my friends, does the fact that you are thinking about the movie the next day change your opinion of it?

To me, the sign of a good movie is a film that does not leave you quickly and has you thinking after the credits have rolled. What do you think?

Amazing with the big screens what we can do. Shelly and I watch various programs including some we stream. I enjoy the concerts. The Doobie Bros. 50th was on tonight. This show was at Radio City earlier this year; we saw them in June at the Beach and was a wonderful show.

Anything that inspires thinking and discourse is good.

I do believe any movie or TV show for that matter, that inspires conversation the next day, must have touched a chord somewhere. Getting a response is always a good thing, whether positive or negative, in my opinion.

When a work of art inspires conversation or even afterthought, I believe it has fulfilled the artists purpose to impact the audience. This applies to movies, music, literature or any art form.

I agree. That's why I put the question to my friends as to whether the next day conversation changed their minds.

I believe the last time we walked into a movie theatre was April, 2019. And we went only because Avengers Endgame was released and I didn't want to wait (and chance having it spoiled for me) to see how the series of movies ended.
