Remnants

In the spirit of the season, I'm so grateful for my family. I love Thanksgiving. To me it's the best holiday...no presents or religion (no offense intended to anyone) just sit around a table, enjoy each other, laugh and express gratitude.

The feeling extends for a few days because I open my refrigerator and I see remnants (you might call them leftovers) of the day and it brings back those great feelings.

• Aunt Mara's pumpkin and apple pie complete with homemade schlag (whipped cream)

• Amy's fresh salad

• My Sister-in-law Susan's squash gratin

• And off course, the fried turkey and smoked/grilled duck I cooked

I hope you have remnants of the day in your refrigerator that bring you joy :)

Plenty of leftovers. 17 and a half pound turkey for 5 people. Stuffing, sweet potatoes casserole with fresh whipped meringue, bread pudding and homemade apple pie...

Jewish wife: doesn’t cook. Overorders. Turkey stuffing yams etc for 4 days!
