Teams

Teams.
As I was watching the U.S. Tennis Open, I heard several of the players refer, and thank, their “Team”, as the camera scanned over to a spectator box with several people in it. Perhaps it is the new rule in tennis that allows coaching during a match.
I’ve noticed increasing references to “teams” - in the business world and elsewhere. Maybe it’s just nomenclature and “team” sounds better today than “working group”.
However it has come about, I like the recognition, perhaps renewed, of teams.
And, as Casey Stengel said “Finding good players is easy, getting them to play as a TEAM is another story.”

I have always felt that one disadvantage many women of a certain age have had in the business world is that we didn't, as a general rule, play team sports. I came to it later and am grateful for the experience. Although on my team we all own our own business, we operate as a team in supporting each other in pretty much every aspect of the business. Being part of a team engenders trust, interdependence, empathy and trust which are all important in life and business.
