Daylight Savings

The other day, we were out doing some gardening. It was 7 p.m. and the sun was still shining with glorious light before sunset.
I was thinking how nice it was to have that time in daylight, after coming home from the office to be outside.
And I thought about the current discussions about making “Daylight Savings” permanent.
How nice, I thought. Then I thought about the cold of winter and wondered about the “added” daylight at the end of the day. And the darkness in the morning.
It made me think that the current system is okay. Yet, the discussion goes on and changes may be coming.
I trust we’ll adapt. But I’m fine the way things are.

I prefer light in the morning, but understand why many appreciate having more sunlight in the evening. My preference would be to pick one and stick to it. The changing back and further is not helpful.

As I have said before, I much prefer the added light in the evening, when I can most utilize it. I have no problem waking up when it is dark out, read my emails, shower and shave. By the time I am ready for work, its light out for the most of the year. But getting out of work at 5 or 6pm, nothing is more depressing than seeing no sunlight. I love this time of the year and savor the evening sun, when I can relax and enjoy the outdoors.
