Your Life Story

One of my favorite “getting to know you” conversational tools is to ask a person to tell me their life story in 5 minutes or less and then listen intently for reusable nuggets.

An ancillary benefit is, if the person is worthy, he or she would then ask me to tell mine.

Try it.  You’ll like it :)

I’d always rather hear someone else’s. And what I know of yours….. I could hear more ;-)

Victoria was just saying this the other day about a new friend. She said “I can’t wait to ask her to tell me her life story”. It’s a very un-self-centered thing to ask a question like that. I will have to work on it.

Happy TG all. One of my favorite questions. The other side of the equation is interesting also. How would you answer that question?

Even if they're an introvert, It's always more interesting to get to know other people than re-telling your story.

That's what I'm usually curious about: how did you get to do what you do? What did you do before? Answers are fascinating. And, Fred, I'd love to know your life's story!

One of the things I like about Gotham is seeing the cofounder(s) riding the circuit. I now use the “tell me your life story in 5 minutes or less” open ended statement. Thank you Fred!

Fred, you always have good material. This is a great way to peel back the onion, in 5 mins or less.
