Leaving

Many years ago, as I was packing the car after a nice vacation for the trip home, I shared my feelings about leaving our idyllic vacation spot with a fellow guest.

“If you don’t leave, you can never come back.”

I have shared those wise words many times.

And the wisdom of the message is sound guidance beyond the vacation. If we never leave our zones of comfort, we can never return with that unique appreciation of what we have….

And if we never leave, we never experience the journey.

Zones of comfort is a good blog subject!

Until I moved to NYC I never wanted to go home from a vacation. Now I only choose to go to see my kids and leaving is bittersweet indeed.

Love this thought. I always find it difficult to leave from a vacation. My wife on the other hand often looks forward to going home. I do think it depends on where you are leaving from and who or what you are returning to. But ultimately, what you wrote is so true about the journey.
