One Year Ago

You know that app in Facebook that brings up your photos from one year ago?

Tonight, Facebook told me that one year ago we were busy enjoying each other’s company at a Casual Cocktails event on Long Island at Grand Luxe Café. The event had been organized by Rona Gura and Marilyn Genoa (great job Rona and Marilyn!). So many of our Gotham family -- the present, past and future -- came by to have a drink. It was warm, not in physical temperature, but in our connections and caring.

We elbow bumped. I remember that. I also distinctly remember having trouble remembering to elbow bump and not shake hands or hug. It seemed counter to my very being.

Afterwards, Bill and I had dinner at a lovely local restaurant –- indoors -- with longtime friends, actually a former client. I remember thinking for the very first time about the bread basket. I hesitated taking a roll for the very first time. It had not yet occurred to me that the idea of eating inside was about to disappear.

What a difference a year makes, right?

When the time is right, I’d like to go back to Grand Luxe Café to kick off a new year of being able to spend time together again. Maybe we can even convince Rona and Marilyn to plan the event. I’ll even be happy to wear my mask.

Yes. It will be great to come back. In some ways it seems longer than a year and in other ways faster. Looking forward!

Somehow Inthink I was there too. Things are getting back to normal. Thankfully. Yes, I will have a slice of bread too.

Something to look forward to
Even thinking about setting up outside today!

Shaking hands was a very important part of engaging, connecting and sealing the deal. I miss it!

I also think you were there Dan. I tried to identify who was in the photo that popped up -- but let's just say I am not a good enough photographer for that to have worked.
