Fond Memories

Gotham Philadelphia happened last night. Oh, yes it did! Shelley Simpson, one of my favorite Gothamites participated in our intimate zoom conversation. We shared meaningful conversation about lovely topics. Everything from COVID realities, to playful walks in the park, to dog attacks and protection from harm it was salon style. Education for the mind and nutrients for the soul. A fond memory bubbled up for Shelley, right at the end of our zoom call. A playful memory she craved, of rolling down the hill and playing outside. Her memory sparked one of my childhood days of running as fast as we could down the hill, almost tripping along the way. Kids, playing outside and us right along side the fun. Wishing for that again. What’s a fun memory for you, that feels like yesterday and is real as real can be?

Looking up at clouds with my mom and imagining shapes and things!

Riding my bike down the block as fast as I could with my then best friend and imagining we were in chariots with various animals pulling us.

What if we all took a little time out for play every day - not scheduled exercise - play! That's what I miss the most these days. I want to play with my kiddos. The memory of rolling down the hill with Gavin is something I cherish. Making new memories is key and maybe finding time for looking at the clouds, letting our imagination take over, or just being silly.

A nnual hayrides at church camp; summer afternoons in Elizabeth Park - loved the swings, croquet and the poly wig pond; bailing hay on a friend’s farm. Hope to visit next time.

Running down the huge hill behind our house playing “Red Light, Green Light 1-2-3!” and pretending to be “Little House in the Prairie” with my little sister and making nasty soup out of onion grass. Lol.
