New Habits

We’ve all been impacted over the last few months. Some routines and habits dropped and others formed.
Most changes were imposed upon us by the shutdown and we adapted. Cardboard delivery boxes appeared at our doorstep in never-imagined numbers. Zoom replaced conference rooms, and on and on.
But will these changes last?
I often wonder what the new normal will be. A new normal for our society and, perhaps more significantly, a new normal for me. The meditation, the walks, the more-regular “just keeping in touch” phone calls and FaceTime with family we can’t visit.
As we move on, I hope to sort out the adaptations that should be retained.

It is a new and different World and we need to be brave and creative to adapt!

indeed, much needed balance was brought about from this experience. It was a horrific time for some families and I will never minimize the impact. The opportunity in this, has been extended time with family and those individuals we love so much, time in prayer, rebuilding of faith in the human spirit and challenges of a paradigm that is ever evolving.

I think a lot will have to do with how we as a working society can adapt. If business continues this way and companies can make money, then this will more likely be the new norm. But if too many down financial reports continue, I can bet business will revert back to the face to face live way of doing things. It's all about the economy and money. Always has been, always will be.

The deliveries and the Zoom meetings were required and I feel fortunate to have been able to avail myself of those. Some people found this to be the time to start exercise and meditation and whether they continue or not will be a personal decision. The same I think applies to the phone calls and Facetime - tools to be grateful for. I hope that going forward we never forget how much we need each other in a real way. Our health and our connection to community are not to be taken for granted.
