4 weeks?

A client asked me if we could plan out the next 4 weeks of content for social media. The question actually stopped me in my tracks. With the pace of change running at lightning speed and emotions flowing in all directions I couldn't.

I told him that I felt comfortable only doing 1 maybe 2 weeks at a time right now. Although it's a bit more stressful, the amount of work we would need to do for 4 weeks; planning, creating and developing would most certainly be wasted because circumstances are changing at a moments notice these days.

To quote Neil Hollander in an email to the politics listserv last night "I can’t keep up. I just can’t. I’m exhausted trying to figure out what we’re all supposed to do, believe, and be outraged by next."

I totally get that and wonder what's around the corner...

Have you read "Thank you for Being Late" by Thomas Friedman? He goes through how quickly things have changed since the introduction of the microchip. And as for Mitch, this is the level of integrity we need more now than ever. Thank you.

Wisely said, Mitch. Hard to shoot a moving target. The rules have changed. This time around the old maxim, “When in commerce, hurry” has changed to,
“When in commerce, stop, look and listen...to your gut.”

The ship has no rudder Mitch . The winds of change are blowing a mighty gale . From all points of the compass. Keep the flight plan short and steady . A week at most . If you change course too quickly and often you’ll lose your way . Not a good scenario to find yourself in the middle of a blow . Fred told me to keep a journal . This is a good time to start. Meantime make sure to cover your six as you stay the course brother .

Even in "normal" times, I can plan an entire series and something causes a need to adjust; I view that as fun; the product/content delay often gets its time so I rarely worry about time wasted.

Mitch speaks well as to how small picture and big picture are the way to be for now and perhaps forever.

I agree 100%. Just in my small "corner of the world," we get almost weekly notices about what issues the judges will hear, changes in procedure etc. Every time I think I have it down, it gets changed. More than two weeks out is far too long to go.

In my line of work, things change daily and most definitely weekly. So planning weeks or more in advance is difficult and ends in frustration when plans need to be changed last minute. "Flavor of the week".
