Everything is not cancelled

Our lives have certainly changed. Neil said yesterday (among other things) in a comment to Fred's blog "You think this is bad . Think Pearl Harbor , Hiroshima , Berlin." I couldn't agree more.

I compare the present event to my personal 'incidents' and it pales in comparison. Not everything is cancelled. Here's the start of a list...

Spring

Love

Friendship

Reading

Barbequeing

Napping

Devotion

Music

The big thing remains seeing friends and colleagues via a screen.
I know what great things I’ve missed.
I know all my virtual visits — many that I’d not ever have undertaken and enjoyed — in so-called normal times.
So that goes in the plus circle. I do not believe i communicate any less via email, text or phone with those I regularly interact with pre-pandemic.

It's interesting. I have gotten together with my college roommates every October for a weekend for several years. In between we texted, called etc. We have been zooming now once a week. I feel like we discovered new way to stay close. Hopefully, we'll continue doing this.

Friendlier people, at least in my neighborhood. When we take our evening walks, weather permitting, we notice so many more people sitting outside on front porches, BBQing, walking, or talking in the street. All tend to say hello with a smile when you pass by. I did not notice that before the pandemic.

I just had the BEST interaction with an Instacart shopper named Mike who did some shopping for us (FYI my husband and I are in our 60's and Mike is a young guy...he sent us a photo)! Customer service is alive and well in Mike!!

Thanks for the shout out Mitch . It’s so relative . My life has barely changed . The essence fully remains . I spend time in the Forrest . Change is slow . The birds still sing . The wildlife walk on by with that “ What me worry ? “ look . I spend long times debating with myself and with them . “ Take me to your leader ? “

Love your stream of thought Neil :) Let's throw some beef on the grill and have a couple of brews!
