When the Tables Turn

There are some silver linings for me in our current coronavirus cloud. One is dinnertime.

Both of my children are under my roof. We haven’t had this much time together in longer than I can remember. It’s actually kind of nice and we have dinner together around the table every single night.

A few nights ago, my phone buzzed during dinner. Of course, my phone is always buzzing but I picked it up to see what was new.

My daughter turned to me and in full voice said, “I thought there were no phones at the table.”

Well, she got me. That is my rule. My kids have heard it for years. But there I was breaking my own rules at my own kitchen table.

I put my phone down. Sometimes it’s a good thing for your kids smack you in the forehead.

The value of Family and return to Family values is an ancillary benefit brought on by pandemic!

Exactly the same with us!! Sydney loves reminding me about that rule.

Your daughter is fabulous. We all want one like her.
And besides, when you knee jerk look when the phone buzzes, you are destroying your span of attention.

Thanks Carol :) And yes, I learned from you how bad it is to have my phone near by all the time but I haven't figured out how to stop the addiction.

Lovely that you are all together! My daughter just remarked how nice it is that we actually have dinner together, something we rarely had an opportunity to do before. Indeed some silver linings.
