Knight of Pythias, basketball

We got to hang with some good friends last eve.

It was fun to catch up.

It was not in person but technology made it seem like we gathered at our place or one of their homes. Usually I see the men one or two times a week for basketball in a program my Knight of Pythias (FDR) lodge sponsors.

There’s been no ball for a month and we have no clue when the game returns. We play in a school gym which mean no ball through April (maybe the end of June after the Governor and the Mayor who once worked for him when they both were at HUD figure things out).

It is not the same exchanging some texts or chatting on the phone when you regularly see certain folks.

So it was nice to catch up via real-time video.

Are you turning to video to socialize as we continue our stay at home lives?

P.S. And just for reading here's cover versions performed by various iterations of the Byrds/ Byrds members:

Good thing is that you finally get to rest your injuries!

Thought about a lot last three days the last of which devoted some time to power washing my deck.

Nobody knows when things will get better or how they will get better. All of the important groups in my life, including friends and family, have gone to ZOOM. Last Tuesday was AVA’s birthday and I set up a “Crazy Disco Birthday Dance Party” with our best friends and children. We danced to Michael Jackson (Starting Something) amd The Gap Band (Party Train). It provided some needed levity, brought us together and the signage, strobe lights and disco ball made it a memorable event). We also joined a Landmark Education seminar and our new mantra is “What’s So”.

I've been zooming. Every fall I attend an overnight reunion with my college roommates. This year we vowed, in the fall, to make it a twice annual event, sometime in the spring. We accomplished that last week through Zoom. It wasn't the same but it felt good.

Ive been zooming every day with my granddaighter. Most of the time she cuts it short so she can go back to zooming with her friends. She's only eight. They sure grow fast.

I am on WebEx multiple times a day for work. Quite frankly, the last thing I want to do is use technology after work to socialize. So except for the weekly Gotham Happy Hour, i have not been too social these days.

Zooming every day. Love it. And expanding my Spotify playlist. I like Led Zeppelin more now than ever

Indeed, zoom is becoming the norm---although it is lovely to be able to see people, it is just not the same----however given what could be I realize how lucky we are to be able to interact given the current state of the world.

Interesting, we'll talk about it soon. Interested in the logistics.

I do not feel a difference. My only experience so far with WebEx is one-sided webinars. My Community Board may do it in a few weeks. After interest in different platforms.
Corey Bearak

I use Apple Music but some of my lists I've posted to my website as text links so you can replicate in Spotify. Do you have a fave LP? I'm not sure I can single out one but House of the Holy is a particular strong studio LP. How The West Was Won is an excellent live LP

Seeing people is key and one of the good things about last night's gathering

For me it is not so much a difference in platforms, it is just sitting in front of a monitor most of the day. I also notice that communication is difficult as many want to talk at the same time and then no one hears anything. I end up just sitting quietly with little participation. There really needs to be better etiquette. You get tired of that aspect and makes me want to avoid it.
Corey Bearak

The big issue.
The issue of who speaks and when -- speaking etiquette -- occurs in person as well. It seems to frustrate someone in a video setting more. People need to learn to be moderated in these setting just as in physical meetings.
