Decade (aka an anniversary)

Gotham Picnic, Gotham City Gazetter

It’s the name of a Neil Young compilation from 1977 covering 1966-1976.

A ten-year period that gives some meaning to a relationship many in Gotham believe spans a time much longer.

It involves Gotham and I did not even mention it at the Picnic which included a competitive softball game that ended on a controversial play: a ball rolling foul got picked up while still fair but ruled foul and being a third swing playing three swings, became the final out.

If fair, we score the tying run. Oh well. A tainted win.

The March 2016 Gotham City Gazette tells the story. So, if you know it not, please click the link to learn all about it.

And I still keep my bat and cleats in my car.

The actual anniversary falls tomorrow. It involves this correspondent and Friday’s blogger.

(The day ended on many a high note though. Shelly and I attended a King Crimson concert also an anniversary of sorts - 2019 Celebration Tour - at Radio City.  View the setlist.)

And then there is the "foul ball" in Mets (Santana's) only No Hitter! In both cases there was no video review. Things have a way of evening out...

Damn, I would have loved to have seen that concert. Did both Fripp and Eno play?

King Crimson 2019 Celebration Tour:
Robert Fripp - Guitar & Keyboards
Jakko Jakszyk - Guitar & Voice
Bill Rieflin - Keyboards
Tony Levin - Basses, Chapman Stick & Backing Vocals
Mel Collins - Saxophones & Flutes
Gavin Harrison - Drums
Jeremy Stacey - Drums & Keyboards
Pat Mastelotto - Drums

I kept feeling I was attending an orchestral performance:

Eno is former (classic) Roxy Music (lineup) but had collaborated with solo Fripp.

Read the Gotham Gazette article linked in this blog. At least you picked up on that. Not sure Friday’s blogger did.

Being part of that controversial last out, I will have to side with Corey. But it was all fun and a great day to boot. Food, corn hole, and the people make the annual Gotham picnic and softball game a must do event. Thank you Corey and company for putting together this once again great gathering.

We’ll talk about it for years to come...

One of my favorite all time albums. Still think Neil's best is On The Beach because of the simple rhythms, strong meaningful lyrics and transcendental feeling it gives me but Decade was one of the best compilations ever made.

Interesting what causes comments involves cute inclusion of a triple LP to describe something else.
Vincent Russo

I as well would have loved to have been there but not possible
I have a wonderful painting in my living room from the court of the crimson king
Fantastic album
And yes - they are big in the rock n roll hall of fame
Corey Bearak

Planning one's life and other activities always means a balance between "shows" and other nice (and required) activities. I played "Court of..." many times in the car in anticipation of the show. "In the court of.." was last song I played before leaving my car for the picnic.
