Charging

In case you haven't seen this yet, someone tried to charge his cellphone on stage at a performance of “Hand to God” on Broadway. Details are unclear, but apparently a man in the audience jumped onto the stage to plug his cellphone into one of the electrical outlets on the set. The only problem was that the outlet was a prop in the scenery -- not a real outlet. Actually, that wasn't his only problem. Suffice it to say that I don't think he got to see the show.

I admit to charging my phone in a public place. It was a restaurant. I was out-of-town and desperate. I asked first.

This brings me to the topic of charging phones -- and accommodating the charging of phones. More and more conference rooms are equipped to handle laptops. Certainly a recognition that more people bring laptops to meetings and expect to use them. We accomodate laptops.

Most people don't think twice about asking for access to Wi-fi and I doubt that many offices don’t provide access to guests.

Will asking for a charge become as commonplace as asking for Wi-fi? Should the host's greeting before a meeting be “can I get you something to drink and an outlet?”

I usually carry a battery back-up. These days, they're small, powerful, inexpensive, and readily available (but don't buy the really cheap units because they're weak and unreliable). Many times my back-up power pack has saved the day.

I've become a big fan of the Mophie battery that fits around my iPhone very manageably. I use my phone for so much of my business and personal life, I'm thrilled that Mophie has made it less stressful.
How anyone can think that its ok to go onstage and plug in is beyond my grasp.

People sit for hours in coffee shops, plugged into the electrical outlet and using the wifi for the price of a cup of coffee. I personally use the Mophie - I don't want to carry cords with me unless I am traveling. Why someone thinks it's okay to go onstage for any reason let alone charging a phone is incomprehensible. Isn't the phone supposed to be turned off in the theater? Speaking of theater etiquette, when did it become OK to show up late for a show? Why do all shows start late to accommodate people who can't arrive on time? Just wondering.

That guy either had an overabundance of chutzpah or was drunk!
Refined Finds has cool, attractive battery chargers thin enough to fit in a wallet!
Saves a lot of potentially embarrassing moments trying to be subtle while looking for an available outlet.

My children got me a portable, tiny charger, that actually charges the phone much faster than the charging cord on my 4.

It's not just people charging their cell phones that get attention, Patty LuPone took one woman's phone away from her during a performance. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/09/entertainment/feat-patti-lupone-cell-phone/index.html

I use one of Flo's devices and recommended. I also have chargers at my disposal.

I usually ask where ever I am if I can use their plug. So far everyone has generously said yes.
