Knickerbockers

The New York Knicks are owned by the Dolan family (owners of Cablevision and Long Island's Newsday).  The family is not very popular for many reasons-not the least of which was the Knicks horrid 17 win past season.

I have been a season ticket holder since far better times in the 70's and am partnering with Gothamite Phil Smallman on my 4 (good) seats for this coming season.

General Manager Phil ("action"in his playing days) Jackson has won double digit NBA Championships with 2 other franchises and the hope is that there is still some magic in his wand.

Last week the Knicks picked 4th in the annual player entry draft and Jackson drew loud derision when he picked under the radar 7'+ 19 year old Latvian Kristaps Porzinglis who Super Star Carmelo Anthony (Syracuse) fears will take too long for him to develop.

It looks like we will have to depend on our upcoming Free Agent signings to make next season more interesting than the last.

We will have a limited number of our 2 seats available at face value. Who's interested in joining me in this Madison Square Garden adventure?

Porzinglis has a 38" vertical jump. Just sayin'.

I now truly fear Jackson got hung out to dry and received bad advice on negotiating with Greg Monroe's agent (or perhaps he did not truly want the guy and hoped he'd pass, but needed to be seen making the offer? -- doubt that). A smart and successful exec surround self with knowledgeable advisors who help one look good (by making better choices.). Now I muse that the former Action Jackson joins another famous New Yorker in failing to strategically surround himself with "old hands" who know. A New York City affliction?
