Milk or Dark?

I learned at a very young age that there are two types of people in the world; those that like milk chocolate and those that like dark chocolate. And, the best marriages, are composed of one of each type of chocolate lover.

My earliest memories of Valentine’s Day consist of giant red hearts of candy that my Dad would bring home to my Mom. Invariably, they would be overwhelmingly filled with milk chocolate. Unfortunately, for my Mom, she preferred dark chocolate. Being the gentlemen that he was, my Dad would gallantly offer to eat the milk chocolate and save the small amount of dark chocolate in the box for her. It took me years to realize that my Dad wasn’t necessarily being a gentleman but, rather, a smart milk chocolate lover.

I prefer milk chocolate. My husband prefers dark. We’re, obviously, well suited for one another. Do you prefer dark or milk chocolate?

Happy belated Valentine’s Day Gotham!!!

When I was young I didn't know the difference. Now only dark (and not because it's supposed to be good for you).

Thankfully, neither my wife nor I discriminate when it comes to chocolate!

I'm the chocolate sommelier in the network, and that may make me a chocolate snob, I can go on about this subject. The reality is, most American's are not exposed to real chocolate, wither dark or milk. It's like the cheese that you find in your grocery store, processed. There are so many artisan bean to bar makers I work with that have single origin bars that have flavor profiles like a fine wine, both dark and milk. And if you think Godiva, Lindt or Hershey special dark are real chocolates, see me. You will never eat that stuff again. Thankfully, living in NY, we have all of these chocolates at our fingertips.

It must be a primative thing, I am allergic to chocolate but at least once or twice a year I MUST HAVE SOME. I prefer dark, it's worth the rash and headache. Emily prefers milk chocolate and my boys are not picky...yet....

I've met many that have an allergy to chocolate, after a brief talk, it's the additives in commercial chocolate that causes the reaction. They have real chocolate and guess what, no reaction.

My husband prefers milk chocolate. I like both; but, thanks to Roxanne Browning, I now prefer real chocolate. The difference is amazing!
