Not Even One Shade For Me

Consider this a movie review in advance.

Fifty Shades of Grey, the movie, is hitting local theaters. You cannot turn on the television these days without finding an interview, preview, hype and more hype.

Personally, I do not intend to see the movie although I am fascinated by the interest in it. Admittedly, I read the first book and maybe I missed something but I didn’t think it was particularly well written and I was offended by the story line. I see the story as denigrating women and not demonstrating their strength as some have said. I did not read the rest of the series.

Am I missing something? Are you going to see Fifty Shades of Grey?

As a litigator, I have learned that there is no such thing as black or white. My professional life is at least 50 Shades of Grey.

It's a sex fantasy in writing. That's pretty much it. Take it for what it is...

Donna Levine wrote I agree with the comment above take it for what its worth. Its not meant to make a statement. It did probably get millions to read who normally do not like to read just like the Harry Potter books did. Anything that promotes reading even trash is a good thing. As far as seeing the movie certainly will not see it in the theater, Net flix maybe a different story lol

After my experience with Into the Woods...I am trying to be more careful with my choice of movies and my kids. Haven't read the book, would this be an appropriate movie for my 13 year old son?

NOT for a thirteen year old. It has been rated higher than"R" in some countries, due to sexual content.

I lack any real interest in it other than whether the interest in and apparent popularity of the book will translate into a popular movie that makes money for its studio. It certainly gets mucho hype and news stories. Shelly has not expressed any interest in seeing it and she has not mentioned reading it.

I actually liked the books-mindless reading. But I have no interest in seeing the movie.
