A Son
I was touched by a post in the In Memoriam section of the New York Times this week. I cannot comment on it. It speaks powerfully for itself and the grieving father who wrote it. Here it is:
"Transcending, ever flowing, my love is with its essence...you.
Your endless kindness and compassion still inspiring, your love for others bigger than your own, reminds me of: "Love thy neighbor as Thyself" and I realized you went beyond that.
The purity and rightfulness of your soul inerasable by the memory of time are sources of strength and infinite gratitude.
I miss your love, your sense of humor, your smile, your beauty, all of you...my vulnerable boy, my son, my child, my Isaac.
Will all my love, Dad."
Isaac Volkmar was 23 years old.

Tragic.
We lost two in high school.
Never made sense to me.
Another occurred shortly after get involved in a political club; he was a young ADA and loyal to me in my rise. His parents were among the nicest folks I'd known.
I googled the young man and could not find any cause of his passing; his parents evidently were divorced since there was a post about mom getting married. And he recently coached basketball.
