Caught in A Protest

It was to be expected. The other evening we were caught in one of the many protests in New York City after the non-indictment in the death of Eric Garner. We were in our car, leaving the City and traffic came to a halt. Protesters, accompanied by police, blocked the road, walked past our stopped car in the opposite direction and were gone.

As the protesters walked past and I sat, I was mindful of my support for their cause. I was also dealing with my inconvenience at that moment. Issues of free speech loomed, as did the rights of my fellow motorists to be free to travel.

Many issues.

Not often in recent years that people take to the streets. You don't have to be a weatherman to know how the wind's blowing!

After getting over being the home of the world's largest landfill, then getting tagged with the cast of Jersey Shore, Big Ang, Mob Housewives…re-electing an indicted Congressman and now the lack of courage by the district attorney…I'm really concerned about the image of Staten Island

Very ironic that you were inconvenienced by the cause you are supporting.

Yes, I love that people are back marching on the streets of Manhattan.
I do find it a little disconcerting that there are 3 rows, 3 deep, 20 long of police officers outside my door every morning...

Some analogized that we see a return to the (late sixties); I do not think so. We'll see.
